1/16/2013 8:17:00 AM Princess Kay visits Windom schools as part of Eagle project
It's not that often that Windom receives a visit from statewide royalty, but that was the case Monday when Princess Kay of the Milky Way, Christine Reitsma of Sauk Centre, stopped at Windom Area Schools.
Princess Kay's visit was arranged by Windom senior Jacob Johnson as part of his Eagle Achievement project, which combined his interest in the dairy industry and his passion for athletics. Johnson introduced Reitsma to students at Winfair Elementary and Windom Area Middle School. Reitsma explained how she's involved with the "Fuel Up to Play 60" program, a cooperative effort between the NFL and the American Dairy Association that emphasizes exercise and eating right.
After Johnson played a video that showed the process of getting milk from the farm to kitchen tables, Johnson and Reitsma worked with students on a Fuel Up to Play 60 worksheet.
Reitsma also handed out brown wristbands with the words, "Refuel With Choclate Milk."
Reitsma also made an appearance at Monday night's Windom boy/girl basketball double-header in Windom.
