New local program offers $1,000 for tips to police
The Windom Police Department has a new tool in its effort to investigate and arrest area suspects: Crime Stoppers.
Windom Police Chief Scott Peterson announced recently that the department has contracted with Crime Stoppers of Minnesota, an organization whose focus is, as the name suggests, wiping out crime. Crime Stoppers, a nationwide group, has learned that a $1,000 reward for key information can be a big help in that effort.
Crime Stoppers provides a telephone number answered twenty four hours a day, every day of the year, to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement agencies to fight against crime.
